How long did it take to develop the eBox?

  • Development started August 2000.
  • Into production July 2001.
  • Trialled for 6 months dual mode with print back up.
  • Trial complete, print turned off December 2001.
  • Electronic only from January 2002.

What do you need to access the eBox

In addition to a CSU login and username, any Internet connected PC or mac with Netscape 3 or IE 3 or above can access the eBox

How do students know they have an ebox message?

Students receive an email which advises then that they have an "Official Message" in their eBox. The email also provides a link to my.csu.edu.au. The email does not contain the subject or text of the official message. The message count at the top of the eBox also displays how many new or unread messages are within.

How many messages are sent each year?

From June 02 to June 03 the following statistics were collected:

User statistics

  • Total number of registered users: 70997
  • Total number of registered staff: 4158
  • Total number of non-registered users: 0
  • Total number of excluded users: 10446

Automatic Message Statistics

  • Total number of messages: 1368
  • Total number of recipients: 516583
  • Total number of messages read: 431500
  • Total number of messages unread: 85083
  • Total number of replies: 22314
  • Average delay in reading messages (days): 27.5

Manual Message Statistics

  • Total number of messages: 1561
  • Total number of recipients: 379195
  • Total number of messages read: 262243
  • Total number of messages unread: 116952
  • Total number of replies: 3830
  • Average delay in reading messages (days): 32.8

Note: Automatic messages are systems originated ..e.g invoices, statements, enrolment, HECS. Manual messages are one off e.g. welcome from the VC, student services notices. Excluded users are students enrolled through 3rd party providers. Total number of registered users are since the system began.
