Bathurst Foundation Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarships (PCPS)
Spring Semester 2009
To recognise the importance of practicum and clinical placements, the Charles Sturt University Foundation Scholarship Committee at the Bathurst Campus has allocated a sum of $20,000 for each session (Autumn and Spring) in 2009, for the purpose of assisting meritorious students studying on the Bathurst Campus in the Teacher Education, Nursing and Paramedic disciplines. This scholarship is specifically for students undertaking practicum and clinical placements that are a compulsory component of their course.
These scholarships are in addition to the Professonal Placement Equity Grants (PPEG) that are administered by the Division of Student Services and there may be cases where students are eligible to receive funds from both the PPEG and the Bathurst Foundation Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarship.
Grant Benefits
-
A Bathurst Foundation Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarship will provide a specified amount of funds for professional placement/s, to a maximum of $1000 per student, i.e. this would be the maximum amount would be for students who have a Professional Placement of 10 weeks or more. However, additional moneys can be made available for exceptional circumstances and placements of a unique character.
-
The Bathurst Foundation Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarship can only be used in the semester for which it is offered. Payments can be retrospective, i.e. if the closing date for the semesters' Bathurst Foundation Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarship application is after the placement date, applications can still be submitted by the due date and grants still awarded.
Example: if the professional placement is in July of 2009 (for a Spring (2nd) Semester enrolment) but applications for the Spring Semester 2009 Bathurst Foundation Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarship haven't opened until August 2009, the grant will still be paid retrospectively.
Eligibility
Please note: particular attention will be paid to students who have supplied evidence of Leadership or Citizenship in the Community or University Community and to those students who have supplied a statement outlining details of their placement, especially if it is a unique or different type of Placement. An application will not be considered eligible unless a statement is provided outlining what your Practicum or Clinical Placement is about.
The following information will be considered when allocating a Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarship
-

-

- Special or unique characteristics: Particular professional developmental opportunities for the student expected to arise from a placement that has special or unique characteristics including placements that provide assistance to communities in need. For example, outline details of what your placement is about, especially if it is in a remote or very remote area of Australia, in an indigenous community, or an area of special needs, etc. Students may also submit a statement from your Course Coordinator, Placement Coordinator or Lecturer in support of their application and placement details.
