Eligibility and Selection
Eligibility
- Students must be enrolled in a distance education subject in a course of undergraduate study as a Commonwealth supported (HECS) student. This includes Honours students.
- Students must also have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and above to be eligible for the RSEG.
- Full fee paying students, associate students and postgraduate students are not eligible to apply for a RSEG..
Selection
The RSEG Selection Committee will select the successful candidates from among all eligible applicants. For the Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo and Wagga recipients, Student Residences and Business will be notified of the successful applicants and the number of free nights awarded. Student Residences and Business will cross check bookings with successful candidates.
RSEG Applicants should note, due to limited free nights and funds available, not all nights requested will be able to be granted.
Selection Criteria
The following criteria will be considered when allocating Residential School Equity Grants.
Essential and Primary Criteria
Financial Criteria (if not proven the application will be assessed as ineligible)
- Applicant must be in receipt of a Commonwealth income support payment, for example Youth Allowance, Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment, Austudy etc.
OR
If not in receipt of a means tested Centrelink Benefit, applicants can claim extreme financial hardship, which must be supported by an Australian Tax Office - Notice of Assessment, current pay slips showing YTD amount earned and complettion of the CSU Financial Hardship form which can be downloaded by clicking on the following link: CSU-Exceptional-Financial-Hardship-Form and attach relevant documentation.
- Claiming you have Centrelink Benefits or Financial Hardship MUST be supported by sending in copies of the above with your application, otherwise your application will be assessed as ineligible.
Secondary Criteria
Rurality
- Preference will be given to students living in "Inner Regional", "Outer Regional", "Remote", and "Very Remote", categories as distinguished using the ASGC Remoteness Areas classification. Classifications are postcode based.
Other
- Requirement to take leave without pay to attend residential school, supported by a statement from employer.
- Cost of travel and kilometers travelled to attend the campus at which the residential school is held.
- Ineligibility for other funding support for travel such as ABSTUDY Away from Base, or employer support.
- Applicant holds a current Centrelink Health Care Card (HCC) in conjunction with Centrelink Benefits or proven financial hardship. A copy of your HCC must also be forwarded with your application
