Scholarships and Grants List

Equity Scholarships for Students at CSU for 2010
Equity Scholarships include the Commonwealth Scholarships Programme (CS) established by the Australian Government, and Institution Equity Scholarships (IES) established by individual institutions. Equity Scholarships are comprised of many different scholarships and at CSU we offer the following scholarships:

  1. Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship-Indigenous (CAS-Indigenous Payment) or commonly referred to as Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS) through a once only scholarship payment, to assist Indigenous students to undertake either an eligible enabling course or an undergraduate course.
  2. CSU Equity Scholarships (CSUES) allocated for a maximum of one year payment for general education costs.
  3. CSU Masters Equity Scholarship (CSUMES) allocated for a maximum of one year payment for general education costs.

CSU RURAL LEARNING PARTNERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

In 2010, Charles Sturt University is offering 20 Scholarships that encourage Joint Studies between the University and TAFE colleges. The CSU Rural Learning Partnership Scholarships are each worth $2000 for 1 year. CSU Professional Placement Equity Grants (PPEG)
Professional Placement Equity Grants are a CSU initiative to assist undergraduate students who must complete a compulsory professional placement as part of their course requirement. Grants are can be funded up to a maximum of $1,000 per practicum.

CSU Residential School Equity Grants (RSEG)
Residential School Equity Grants provide CSU Distance Education students a specified number of free nights accommodation in the Halls of Residence on campus at Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wagga Wagga or $52.00 per night towards your accommodation costs if your Residential School is at Albury or Canberra.

CSU Foundation Scholarships
The Charles Sturt Foundation provides nearly 200 scholarships to undergraduate students across all CSU campuses.

CSU Honours Scholarships

CSU encourages students to consider studying at Honours level. In order to assist students with their study, the university makes a limited number of merit-based scholarships available to Honours students. This is applicable to any mode of Honours study. Full time students are students with 75% or greater of a full course load will receive $3000 in 2 instalments ($1500 in Autumn (1st) Session and $1500 in Spring (2nd) Session). Part time students are students with a 50% course load and they will receive $1500 in 2 instalments ($750 in Autumn (1st ) Session and $750 in Spring (2nd) Session). The scholarship is for a 12 month period and all students can reapply for a scholarship in the following year.

CSU Excellence Scholarships

Charles Sturt University (CSU) Excellence Scholarships are awarded to students based on a combination of academic merit Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) (NSW) or Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER) (Victoria) score of 95 and above - inclusive of the Regional Bonus) and evidence of demonstrated leadership and citizenship within the community. To receive a CSU Excellence Scholarship you need to meet the eligibility criteria and complete the application form. CSU Science Scholarships
Charles Sturt University offers you a helping hand to explore your passion for science via lucrative scholarships for on campus applicants in science-based fields. The 40 CSU funded scholarships will provide successful students with $4000 per annum for up to four years, subject to satisfactory progress. If successful, you can determine exactly how the money is to be spent. The scholarships are available initially to those students with an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) (NSW) or an Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER) (VIC) of 80 above (including the Regional Bonus) . We will also consider non school leavers via an assessment process.

CSU Policing Scholarships
Scholarships available to students undertaking the Associate Degree in Police Practice.

CSU International Student Scholarships
Charles Sturt University is registered to receive various scholarship students on behalf of The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). Australian Scholarships is an Australian Government initiative to build partnerships and increase mutual understanding, knowledge and innovation in the Asia Pacific region.

CSU Postgraduate Scholarships
CSU Postgraduate Scholarships are available to students undertaking a research higher degree.

St Martin’s College Scholarship

St Martin’s College offers an annual scholarship to assist a student or students in need with the cost of their residential fees.The scholarship, known as the Helen Faulks St Martin’s Scholarship, has been made possible by a bequest from the late Mrs Helen Faulks from Narrandera.The scholarship is only open to residents of St Martins College and application forms are available from the college office in Term 3 each year. The award is made at the college annual dinner in November. Information is available in the College Handbook which can be accessed on the college website www.csu.edu.au/student/stmartins. Applications are obtained and submitted direct to St Martin's College.

CSU International Exchange Program and Travel Grants

Funding for travel grants and scholarships are offered through the CSU Office of International Relations. All students who are accepted into the CSU International Exchange Program are eligible for a travel grant of up to $1500.
