How to Apply for an Equity Scholarship?
Note: changes for 2010 Scholarship Allocation of Equity Scholarships at CSU
The Commonwealth and CSU Equity Scholarships Program aims to assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those from rural and regional areas and Indigenous students, with costs associated with higher education. On behalf of the Australian Government, the allocation of all NEW non-Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships will be administered by Centrelink from 2010. For further information on the new Commonwealth Scholarships (Relocation Scholarship and Start-Up Scholarship) scheme refer to theDepartment of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) website.
Charles Sturt University will continue to administer current continuing Commonwealth Scholarship recipients under the Commonwealth Government's 'grandfathering' agreement.
2010 Application for CSU Equity Scholarships (CSUES), the Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS), the Indigenous-CECS and the Indigenous-CAS
While there are changes for the Commonwealth Scholarships Program, CSU will still administer the Indigenous Access Scholarships (IAS) previously known as the Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships-Indigenous Payment (CAS-I), the Indigenous-CECS and the Indigenous-CAS and our Institutional Equity Scholarship, which is the CSU Equity Scholarship (CSUES).
CSU will participate in a centralised application process for the IAS (incorporating Indigenous-CECS and Indigenous-CAS) and CSU Equity scholarships through UAC and VTAC for 2010.
To apply online visit the:
- Equity Scholarships section at the Universities Admissions Centre of NSW (UAC) website, OR
- Equity Scholarships section at the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) website, and
- the above websites will have further information on the application process as well as the Equity Scholarship Booklet will be available to download and print from these websites.
The Scholarship Applications through UAC and VTAC opened in August 2009 for the 2010 allocation of the IAS, Indigenous-CECS, Indienous-CAS and the CSUES.
Following are the different groups of people who can apply for the IAS, Indigenous-CECS, Indigenous-CAS and CSUES Scholarships:
- current Charles Sturt University students (apply through UAC for the scholarships)
- people applying for CSU admission via UAC (apply through UAC)
- people applying for CSU admission via VTAC (apply through VTAC)
- people applying for CSU admission directly through the CSU Admissions Office (can apply through UAC or VTAC)
CSU Masters Equity Scholarship
A 2010 Application for the CSU Masters Equity Scholarship (CSUMES) can be obtained from the Application form link below and submitted direct to the Equity Scholarship Officer at CSU. Please do not submit the CSUMES application through UAC or VTAC.
