Forum: web based communication tool similar to electronic discussion board
HECS: Higher Education Contribution Scheme

Support Central: Central point of contact for queries from enrolled CSU students
Home Page: Page that your web browser opens to on startup
Internet: A worldwide network of computer networks
ISP Internet Service Provider: A company that provides Internet access to its customers
IT Service Desk: Point of contact for IT related inquiries
Knowledgebank: Online interactive training package covering the usage of Microsoft products.
Mentor: Someone who has embarked on a similar journey to your own and, with insight and understanding, has reflected on their achievements and also what they had hoped to achieve. They communicate a vision of what lies ahead. They support and challenge you.
Modem: (MOdulator, DEModulator) a device that uses a telephone line to connect your computer to the internet
my.csu: Your personal area of the CSU web site
Password: Computer generated sequence uniquely assigned to you to access CSU online services. Must be changed at least every 60 days
PELS: Post Graduate Education Loans Scheme
Plagiarism: The dishonest use of another person's ideas, words, concepts or theories by presenting them as one's own.
Referencing: Documenting the source of your information
Student Liaison Officer: Staff located in Student Administration who act as the link between you and your faculty
Tool: a mini application in my.csu for example the my fourms or my subjects. The Toolbox provides a list of the available tools that can be placed on your desktop. Use the Toolbox to add tools to the desktop. There is a toolbox for each column on the desktop.
Transcript: Official copy of your results
Username: Your CSU online identification issued on enrolment
URL Uniform Resource Locator: The address of a resource available on the Internet
Web Browser: Software used to access the World Wide Web e.g. Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape Navigator, etc.
World Wide Web (WWW): The "multimedia" portion of the Internet, with colour, graphics, sound, video and other possibilities
