How To Use This Guide

This Guide to Learning summarises the services available to meet your needs as you settle into being a student at Charles Sturt University .

By providing you with key information, student advice and essential and recommended activities, you will become familiar with the workings of the University, how your course is administered, how and where you can get help if needed and importantly, how you can achieve academic success.

The guide comprises of several main sections. These sections, which make up the menu on the left hand side, reflect the milestones experienced by previous students. Students are encouraged and will find it beneficial to undertake the reflective section 'Before you start' prior to moving onto the other sections.

Topic List iconTopic list
Each section will include a brief introduction and a list of topics covered. You can also use the topic list to tick off areas as you understand them or to highlight topics you need to follow up at a later stage.

Essential Activities iconEssential Activities
In some sections you will find Essential Activities. Previous students have suggested that these activities are crucial to your understanding of the University and to your course. Completing these activities is strongly advised.

Recommended Activities iconRecommended Activities
We understand your time is precious and that many of you have studied previously. Therefore you may not need to complete all the activities we recommend. While not essential to your progress, completing the suggested activities will certainly enhance your knowledge and skill development.

Students are able to study with CSU from any location in the world. While the majority of information provided in this guide is applicable to all students regardless of their study mode, there are some instances where information is specific according to whether you are studying on campus or by distance education. The following symbols will identify information relevant only to a specific group.
