I am a Wiradjuri man born in Narrandera, NSW. I have worked in many different occupations over the last 25 years. I started my academic training at age twenty-five with Sydney University in the undergraduate program for Aboriginal Health and Community Development (Distance Education Diploma, 3 years).

I obtained a position with the NSW Health Department as an Aboriginal Health Education Officer. After completing my Diploma I applied to undertake a postgraduate degree, Indigenous Health and Management, at Wollongong University via distance education and remained working in the NSW Health Department. After 2 years I applied to move over to the Masters program and completed it in 1998. I also worked for four years with the Katungul Aboriginal Medical Service on the far south coast of NSW. I then returned to the NSW Health Department for a period of five years as the Senior Aboriginal Health Education Officer. I then applied for the position of Senior Manager of Indigenous Student Services with Charles Sturt University, where I am currently employed today.
