Sharon Lane is a Wiradjuri woman born and raised in the Dubbo area. Sharon worked for many years in the public service sector before focusing on Corrections where she maintained the role of Acting Senior Assistant Superintendent. During the eleven years in Corrections, Sharon maintained skills to further enhance her knowledge of Aboriginal people in custody as well as juvenile offenders.
Sharon is in her final year of completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Aboriginal Studies. Sharon chose this area of study as she believes the history of Aboriginal Australians should always be acknowledged and never forgotten. Sharon says, 'Although I am saddened by the past atrocities, the history of our culture has always been a passion of mine, and maybe one day I may be able to pass this history onto others'.
Sharon is currently employed as Community & Student Liaison Officer within the Indigenous Student Services, Dubbo.
