Individual Consultations
All individual consultations with a Learning Skills adviser must be made through Support Central.
If attending in person, please advise Support Central which campus you would like to attend.
If you are not attending in person, then it's still important for you to make an appointment through Support Central. This will allow a timely allocation of your query to a Learning Skills adviser, who will constructively address your learning issues or concerns, or provide feedback on a draft assignment.
Before making an appointment for an individual consultation, use the Learning Skills Forum or our online Self-help Resources to find the guidance you may be looking for in relation to management of study, preparing for exams, referencing, locating appropriate learning resources, and so on.
Guidelines for individual consultations
- Consult a Learning Skills adviser as soon as you recognise there's a need for guidance. If your individual consultation is in relation to a draft assignment, make an appointment at least one week before submission date. This will allow you further revision time prior to submitting your work for final assessment.
- Appointments may be up to 50 minutes in duration.
- If you are unable to attend your face-to-face appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours prior to the appointment time. Failure to attend a scheduled appointment may limit your chances of making a further appointment.
What to provide
- A brief summary of your learning concerns, along with any material relevant to your enquiry; for example, a copy of your assignment question, the marking criteria, previous assignments, a learning journal, a timetable or planners.
- If your contact is in regard to an assignment - for instance, an essay or a report - then it's important that you have proofread your own draft before attaching.
Please check Learning Skills policies for further details on individual consultations.
