I hear voices!
Academic writing should comprise of many 'voices' made up of relevant authors and 'your voice'. You can add these 'voices' through direct quotations, paraphrasing, summarising and citing your source in all cases.
Remember to cite your source, when you quote directly, when you paraphrase and when you summarise. All these types of 'voices' must be referenced.
