ESOS - Educational Services for Overseas Students

As  an international student on a student visa at Charles Sturt University your  rights and responsibilities are governed by a legislative framework called the  Educational Services for Overseas Students Act (ESOS). The provision of  education is regulated by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace  Relations (DEEWR).

Complaints and  Appeals

If you  if you have a grievance or wish appeal a decision which affects you, there are  is help and advice available.

For  academic issues, including appeals and advice such as appealing a grade or  asking for special consideration, see the Student Services Academic  Appeals Advice website for more information. The Student Support Officer for Advocacy on your campus or your International Student Support Officer can give you advice and help you prepare your  appeal. Your SSO or ISSO can also help  you with informal complaints and talking your lecturer about difficult issues.

Formal  complaints against the university, a course or lecturer are handled by the University Ombudsman.  The Ombudsman website has more information on the complaints policy, the formal complaint form and contact details for the Ombudsman.

If you  are excluded from the University, you can lodge a complaint with the NSW  Ombudsman if there is evidence of wrong conduct. Read more about Complaints and Appeals.
