VoIP telephones

VoIP telephones are provided in all student residential bedrooms and can be used by students to make and receive calls.

Problems with the telephones must be reported to Student Central. Links and more information can be found on the Resnet page.

The University feels very strongly about prank or harassing calls and if reported to or detected by Residences staff, offenders will be reported to the local Police who may take legal action. Also charges of misconduct may be initiated by the University.

Receiving calls

If someone from outside CSU wishes to call you on your room phone they will need to dial:

  • 02 6051 8800 (Albury-Wodonga)
  • 02 6338 6600 (Bathurst)
  • 02 6885 7490 (Dubbo)
  • 02 6365 7200 (Orange)
  • 02 6933 7500 (Wagga)

Callers will be prompted to enter your 5-digit extension so you also need to inform your intended caller of your internal phone number.

(Your bedroom phone number will not be supplied to any person requesting it from any University employee. This is University policy.)

To Make Phone Calls

From your bedroom phone you will need to purchase a CSU Calling Card from the Mini Market at Bathurst and Wagga Wagga, for Albury Campus residents at the cashiers, for Orange Campus residents at Banjos and for Dubbo Campus residents at the front desk. To use the card you will need to dial 411 to access the phoneaway connection, then you will need to enter the 12-digit number in the middle of your card, then follow the voice prompts.

Please note: 'Homelink' or similar services are not available.

Internal calls from any Residential bedrooms to any other CSU telephone number are free (this includes calls to other CSU campuses).

Emergency and Security

VOIP phones dial 000 only.

Security can be contacted quickly by dialing 400.

Locked out of your bedroom you can dial 401 from the common room phone. The lockout number is a 24 hour a day service.

Internet Data Facilities

Although the University provides computer facilities at all its campuses, the Division of Student Services has gone a step further by providing a network connection for student computers in all our student bedrooms. This allows students to connect directly to the University network and World Wide Web without the use of a modem. Modem dial-up is not allowed.

Phone and data facilities for student bedrooms are managed and maintained by the Division of Information Technology. Please refer to their website - ResNet - for information specific to CSU Residents.

Note - All students will automatically receive a Login ID and Password after enrolment from the Division of Information Technology.
