Student Personal Accident Insurance
Charles Sturt University Student Personal Accident Insurance is held with Lloyds of London through Professional Risk Underwriting Pty Ltd (ProRisk).
It provides cover for CSU full time and part time internal students of all campuses in Australia. The policy applies 24 hrs per day, 365 days per year, while the student is currently enrolled. It includes, but is not limited to, cover while the student is engaged in university, course or sports-related activities including practical placement and associated travel.
Cover in respect of CSU Distance Education students of all campuses in Australia applies whilst such persons are on authorised work experience or are engaged in necessary direct travel between the normal place of residence or employment and the place of such work experience.
The policy excludes CSU students and/or students of any other educational institution insured by any policy effected in respect of students enrolled in courses being conducted at and from the NSW Police College, Goulburn (these students are covered by a separate policy), students of University of NSW Rural Clinical School or CSU/TAFE Joint Venture Fine Arts and students aged under 15 years and 75 years of age and older.

What does a student do if they have an accident/incident?
Come and see the Student Support Officer on your campus and provide them with the account of your accident/incident as soon as possible or get someone else to report the accident/incident.
If the SSO considers that cover applies, then the student will be provided with a CSU Accident/Incident Report form. If this form has already been filled out, the SSO will require a copy. The SSO will then notify the Insurance Company of the accident/incident.
The student will be provided with a ProRisk Personal Injury Claim Form.
The student must then complete the forms and return them to the Student Support Officer with any receipts that they already have.
What is included in these forms?
- A ProRisk Personal Injury Claim Form
- A Medical Practitioner's Statement to the Company
The Student Support Officer will then forward the forms and any subsequent receipts to ProRisk. The SSO dealing with the insurance claim will keep the student informed of the progress and promptly forward any cheques to the student.
It is imperative that the student notifies the Student Support Officer as soon as possible as a "window of opportunity" to claim may be minimal (within weeks).
