Professional Placement Equity Grants (PPEG)

Current students now apply for the PPEG via student.csu

The Professional Placement Equity Grant is a CSU initiative to assist undergraduate students who must complete a compulsory professional placement of any length as part of their course requirement.

Students are facing increasing financial pressures as costs associated with tertiary education increase. In recognition of this, Charles Sturt University (CSU) has approved the allocation of funds for the purpose of providing equity scholarships and grants to assist students from disadvantaged groups to study at CSU. In 2011 Charles Sturt University allocated approximately $297,000 for the Professional Placement Equity Grant program. These Equity Grants are in addition to the CSU Equity Scholarship Program are targeted at students who are struggling financially.

Description

  • A Professional Placement Equity Grant will provide a specified amount of funds for professional placement/s, according to the level of criteria they meet and the length of a placement.  The maximum a student can receive is $1000 per session.  The PPEG will normally be between $50 to $100 per week of placement for eligible students, i.e. therefore, the maximum amount would be for students who have a Professional Placement of 10 weeks or more.
  • The PPEG is available in Session 1, 2 and 3.  Example:  (i) Session 1 PPEG is available to students enrolled in a session 1 subject that has a compulsory placement; (ii) Session 2 PPEG is available to students enrolled in a session 2 subject that has a compulsory placement; and (iii) Session 3 PPEG is available to students enrolled in a session 3 subject that has a compulsory placement.
  • The Professional Placement Equity Grant can only be used in the session for which it is offered.
  • Payments can be retrospective ie. if the closing date for the sessions' PPEG application is after the placement date, PPEG applications should still be submitted by the due date. Example: (i) if the professional placement is in January of 2011 (for a Session 1, 2011 enrolment) but applications for the Session 1, 2011 PPEG don't open until March 2011, the grant will be paid retrospectively; (ii) or your placement is in September 2011 (for a Session 1, 2011 enrolment), students should apply for the Session 1, 2011 PPEG and the grant will be paid in advance.
  • If, at the time of your application, you have not been advised of your placement location or dates.  You should still submit your application using approximate placement dates, requested location and then advise the CSU Scholarships Office at ppeg@csu.edu.au of location and dates as soon as you are advised.
