How To Apply
To be eligibile to apply you must:
- be enrolled in a distance education subject in an undergraduate course
- be a HECS-HELP supported student (full fee paying students, associate students and postgraduate students are not eligible)
- have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for this grant (not applicable for your first semester of first year of study)
You must be able to demonstrate financial hardship, generally by receipt of a means-tested Centrelink benefit or if not on Centrelink benefits, evidence of low income, i.e. Tax Assessment Statement, Salary advice documents, etc.
Selection
Preference will be given to students in financial need and from rural and isolated areas. Other selection criteria that may be considered are detailed in the RSEG Guidelines at: Residential School Equity Grant Guidelines[.pdf]
Benefits
If your residential school is held in Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange or Wagga Wagga, your RSEG will provide you with a specified number of free nights accommodation only in the catered Halls of Residence on-campus (for Wagga and Bathurst) and cottage non catered (Dubbo and Orange).
You are responsible for making your own booking with Residences prior to the Early Bird Rate closing day, See Key Dates for more information.
If your residential school is held in Albury or Canberra or Sydney, your RSEG will provide you with a specified number of nights accommodation subsidised by $72 per night. Payment will be made to your bank account as nominated on your CSU record, after confirmation that you have attended the residential school.

- Your current Centrelink Income Statement
If you are claiming financial hardship
- The completed Exceptional Financial Hardship Form [PDF]
- Health Care Card (if you have one)
- Most recent Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment
OR
Most recent payslip including Year To Date earnings
You can submit copies of the documentation in your online application or by email, fax or mail, but there may be an extended delay in assessing your application.
