CSU Masters Equity Scholarship (CSUMES)
Students are facing increasing financial pressures as costs associated with tertiary education increase. In recognition of this, Charles Sturt University (CSU) has approved the allocation of funds for the purpose of providing equity scholarships to assist students from Equity Groups to study at CSU in a postgraduate coursework Masters level course.
Value and Length of Scholarship
In 2011 and 2012 the CSU Masters Equity Scholarship is worth $2,000 per annum and is allocated for one year, paid in 2 equal instalments of $1,000 per session.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a CSUMES as a new or continuing student, by the Census date of their 1st session the CSUMES recipient must be:
- undertaking a postgraduate Masters (coursework) as a Commonwealth (HECS-HELP) supported student; and&
- be enrolled as a full-time student; and
- be studying their first Masters degree
- not be in receipt of a CSU Equity Scholarship; and
- if a current student, meet satisfactory academic progress requirements defined as having and maintaining a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher
- be of low socio-economic status (receiving a Centrelink Income Support Payment) or proven low socio-economic (financial hardship) circumstances as assessed as such by the CSU Scholarship Office; and
- be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or the holder of a permanent humanitarian VISA
