What is it?

Concept mapping or mindmapping is a way of representing knowledge visually. It can be described as a process through which one or more people via brainstorming create a 'map' with key words and ideas that represent and link to a concept.

Why do it?

Because it is a useful tool for assisting and enhancing many of the types of learning and thinking that study at university requires.

Why they are useful?
  • Study Aid: assists effective note taking, summarising newly learned ideas and concepts or can lend some structure or purposeful activity to help reflective thinking.
  • Brainstorming Support: provides a useful format and direction for planning and generating new ideas.
