EASTS
Most CSU distance education subjects allow you to submit assignments electronically through EASTS, where you submit your assignment through the University tracking system across the Internet. Files can be accepted in several formats including the latest version of Word documents, RTF and HTML.
To use EASTS, first go to my.csu and select the appropriate subject link in the My Subjects tool. This will take you to your Interact subject site where you will find the EASTS link within the left-hand side navigation menu.
Click the First Time Users button on the left side of your screen and read the information on each screen. Click the blue arrow button at the bottom of the screen to progress. Once you have reached the end of this screen, select your assignment and click Submit.
After a brief moment the Assignment Submission Results screen will appear, advising that CSU has received your submitted assignment. You must now view your original document located on the CSU server. The assignment is automatically displayed for review. If it isn't then click on the file name hot link to view the file.
An email message is automatically sent to the address specified in EASTS system confirming assignment receipt. This simply indicates an attempted submission, not necessarily a successful submission. You can check where this notice will be sent by clicking the Check My Email tab.
If you need to delete a file and resubmit it, go to the assignment submission screen in EASTS:
- Click on the History tab;
- Locate the required file name;
- Click on the small square box under the heading 'Delete';
- Click on Remove File
However, files may only be deleted before they are printed out and sent on the marker. You will need to advise your lecturer of any further file submission to ensure that the appropriate assignment is marked.
Assignments will be returned to you in printed form through the post.
Useful Tips for using EASTS
- The EASTS system supports Microsoft Word, Rich Text Format, Text and HTML files.
- If you need to send Excel files the trick is to copy and paste Excel data into a Word document. In this way your entire assignment can be printed out without a problem.
- If using a word processing application program other than Microsoft Word, save your original file in 'Rich Text Format'. If you use Microsoft Works, save the file as a version of Word.
- When you save files for EASTS submission, keep the file name short, using letters and numbers only with no spaces. The file name should end with a .doc extension, for example: assign1.doc
- Do not send your file within a folder as this may lengthen the transmission path and cause an error.
- If you use an 'ad-zapper' type of program, close this program before attempting to submit through EASTS.
- Macintosh computer users need to save their assignment file so that a .doc extension is included at the end of the file name, for example: assign1.doc
If you need more information click the orange Help tab at the top of the EASTS screen.
