Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find my eBox?

Your eBox can be accessed through my.csu at my.csu.edu.au

Is the eBox the same as email?

No; eBox delivers communications through a secure Web environment.

Can I still have my letters sent to me in the post?

If you are an internal student, all university communications will be delivered to you only online and not by post. If you are studying by Distance Education (DE) and don't have Internet access you won't be disadvantaged. You will be able to 'opt out' of being a registered online user and all official University communications will continue to be sent to you by post. Contact Student Administration to arrange this.

Once I have read my eBox messages where do they disappear to?

Your messages are stored in your eBox. Click on the 'MORE' button on the right hand side of the eBox and you will be able to choose to view Old and Sent items.

Why not just send official communications by email?

Because students frequently change their email addresses, email is an unreliable method of official communications and the University could not ensure delivery. By delivering official communications my.csu the University can provide an audit trail of the correspondence.

What is the definition of an internal student?

If you study at least one subject as an internal student you are considered an 'internal' student, and your official University communications will be delivered online. You will have access to computer laboratories at the campus you attend so you can regularly check your eBox.

What if I study both an internal subject and a DE subject?

Because you study at least one internal subject, you are considered an 'internal' student so your official University communications will be delivered online.

Why can some DE students still get communications by post while internal students have to be online?

Internal students have access to computer laboratories on campus and so are able to regularly check their eBox for official University communications. However, some DE students will not have any access to the Internet and they will be able to opt out of being an online user.

How do students register for online communications?

All students (internal and DE) are automatically registered as online users. In the case of DE students who do not have Internet access through an IP provider, they should contact Student Administration as soon as possible to request they be 'deregistered' as an online user.

What if I have a disability that prevents me from accessing a computer?

You will not be disadvantaged if you have a disability and cannot access a computer. You can continue receiving your official University communications by post. Please contact CSU Student Services or visit the Disability Issues Web page.

Can I send a message to my lecturer through eBox?

No; eBox is only for official University communications. You should continue to contact your lecturer through email or specific subject forums.

What if I have technical difficulties using eBox?

If you have any technical difficulties please contact the IT Service Desk.

Who has access to the eBox service?

All CSU students have access to this facility except those students who are enrolled through a third party provider.
