Student survey results: CSU Interact
awareness project

In February this year we ran an online survey to evaluate the success of our CSU Interact awareness project. More than 4000 of you took the time to submit some feedback with ten lucky students receiving Co-op Bookshop vouchers as part of a prize draw.

Some of the main themes of feedback are summarised below.

What you
said
What we're
doing about it
Some students were confused between the purposes of my.csu and CSU Interact We’re investigating what we can do to remove this confusion and the potential duality of the two online environments
Some of you asked for training in how to use CSU Interact There are detailed user help guides in CSU Interact itself and also on the Online Learning website. To enhance the education and training avenues available for CSU Interact, we’re looking at making some online demos that will explain and show how to use CSU Interact and its tools
Variations between levels of use by lecturers was raised as a concern by some of you We’re going to work with lecturers to try and get more consistency in how they use CSU Interact and to ensure they have all the information necessary to make the most of the online learning environment for you
Greater use of multimedia was something some of you are asking for Again, we plan to work with your lecturers to encourage them to use all the tools that are appropriate for their subjects
The chat tool seems to have some problems according to some students Our IT staff are investigating chat to ensure it is working to capacity
Some students said CSU Interact seemed to be ‘down’ a lot CSU Interact  has had initial teething problems that caused some instability, but these have been largely addressed. IT further have regular scheduled outages to allow new features to be implemented and small bugs resolved.  We’re going to investigate the possibility of moving these outages to a monthly cycle to minimise disruption to your access. We’re also going to ensure lecturers are aware of the effect of file sizes on download times.
