Online Learning at CSU
Supporting students during the implementation of CSU Interact
Interact is CSU's new online learning environment. All of our students need to be aware of the environment and where they can seek support in using this environment most effectively.
The Student Support project, managed by the Division of Student Services is a component of the OLE Programme. This project provides an information and awareness campaign to inform and support students in the use of the Interact environment prior to and during its implementation in January 2008.
The following strategies will be employed to support students throughout the implementation of CSU Interact.
Change management to continuing students
- eBox and forum messages will be sent to all continuing students in October/November/December '07
Information and awareness to all students commencing December 07
All students will receive information regarding CSU Interact through the following methods:
- Starting Student Life at CSU Booklet (hard copy - posted to new students only)
- Student Life web site
- CSU Interact brochure
- CSU Interact magnet
- eBox messages
- Access to Guide to Learning
- Access to Online Learning web site
- Interact treasure hunt – with a prizes draw for students who complete
On campus additions
- Posters around campus, labs/teaching rooms
- Interact wallpaper and screensaver on public access PCs
- O week leaders will be wearing T shirts and hats with Interact logos
- Key staff and student mentors will be wearing Interact T shirts
- Student ambassadors (Open day every day tour guides) will wear Interact T-shirts
- Compulsory information session on Interact (presentation made available to DE's online and advised via eBox)
- Student mentors available in libraries and labs to assist students using Interact
Student Support
A range of student support will be available from self help resources to a comprehensive facilitated subject in online learning.

Facilitated Support
- Skills for Learning Online (short STUDY LINK subject introducing the CSU online environment. Free to most students – approx 20 hours to complete)
- CSU IT Services Desk. Technical queries will be dealt with by IT. Any non-technical queries will be escalated to Student Services where a staff member or student mentor will address the issue to resolution.
At Risk students
A log of students who have not accessed CSU Interact by the end of Week 1 of Autumn session will be generated and included in a Call Out program run by student mentors.
Evaluation
Student access of CSU Interact will be measured against critical points of information provision in the Student Support program
Students will be sent a brief survey in Week 2 via the eBox to gauge awareness and understanding of Interact.
