Individual phones are installed in all student bedrooms and can be used by students to receive calls.
To receive calls to your bedroom phone you will need to let your callers know your number which will be:
plus the extension listed on the phone.
For those rooms with VoIP phones
If someone from outside CSU wishes to call you on your room phone they will need to dial:
Callers will be prompted to enter your 5-digit extension so you also need to inform your intended caller of your internal phone number.
(Your bedroom phone number will not be supplied to any person requesting it from any University employee. This is University policy.)
From your bedroom phone you will need to purchase a CSU Calling Card from the Mini Market at Bathurst and Wagga Wagga, for Albury Campus residents at the cashiers, for Orange Campus residents at Banjos and for Dubbo Campus residents at the front desk. To use the card you will need to dial 411 to access the phoneaway connection, then you will need to enter the 12-digit number in the middle of your card, then follow the voice prompts.
Please note: 'Homelink' or similar services are not available.
Internal calls from the bedrooms are free to on-campus students living in the Halls of Residences.
When you have taken a call on one phone and wish to transfer it to another extension in the university:
Phone Problems need to be reported online to the IT Service Desk (internal extension: 84357) and a staff member will attend to the problem as soon as possible.
The University feels very strongly about prank or harassing calls and if reported to or detected by Residences staff, the offenders will be reported to the Police Department for legal action. Also charges of misconduct may be initiated by the University.
Reverse charge calls to student phones are not permitted.
These calls can only be made from public phone facilities on campus and residences that don't have bedroom phones. Students in residences with bedroom phones will not be able to access the 1800 or 13 Telstra service from their building. The Division of Student Services reserves the right, as the provider, to block this facility on their system.
Voice Mail is available on your phone. To set up voice mail, dial 420, you will then be asked for your security code. Your initial security code will be 0000 until you set up your own, then follow the instructions.
Message bank is free and only available to full-time students living in the Halls of Residences.
Emergency dial 0 000 (required to be 4 zeroes).
Security can be contacted quickly by dialing 400.
Locked out of your bedroom you can dial 401 from the common room phone. The lockout number is a 24 hour a day service.
