CSU Residences

Accommodation

CSU has on-campus accommodation available at five of it's campuses; Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wagga Wagga.

You may elect to live in either catered or self-catered accommodation at Bathurst and Wagga Wagga. As the term suggests, catered accommodation includes the provision of most meals in a central dining room. Students living in self-catered accommodation cook all meals for themselves, although casual meals can be purchased from the dining room. At Albury-Wodonga, Dubbo and Orange campuses, self-catered accommodation is the only option available.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms are fully furnished, this means - bed, desk, cupboards, drawers, shelves and a chair. Bed linen and pillows are also provided with a linen exchange, on a weekly basis. You may bring your own linen and launder it yourself if you prefer. Rooms in self-catered accommodation contain a bar sized refrigerator. You will need to bring your own desk lamp and a fan if your room is not air-conditioned. A private telephone and a data point are provided in all bedrooms.

No additional furniture is permitted, but you may bring a portable hand-held stereo if you wish. We strongly recommend that you also bring headphones.

Bathrooms

Shared bathrooms and toilets are located close to bedrooms in all residences.

Kitchens

All self-catered areas have kitchens fitted with separate cupboard space for each resident, either an oven or microwave, or a convection/ microwave oven is standard. You will need to bring your own crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, pots/pans, tea towels and washing up items.

Cleaning

All common rooms, kitchens and bathrooms are cleaned regularly. Bedrooms and common rooms must be kept tidy to enable cleaning staff to do their jobs effectively. You will need to make your bed, remove rubbish, keep your refrigerator clean, and wash and put away your cooking and eating utensils after use.

Common Rooms

Common rooms are provided with lounge chairs and televisions. Some are connected to PAY-TV. In catered residences, there are kitchenettes with kettle, toaster fridge and microwaves.

Laundry

Washing machines, dryers and clotheslines are available in every residence. Starting in 2009, all machines are operated using your student ID card and the cost of these machines is covered by the Washing Machine Levy that you pay upon application.

Comfort and Security

While the on-campus accommodation is certainly not run like a school dormitory, every effort is made to provide a safe environment in which students can work and live in comfort and security.

Security: A security service operates on all campuses, except Dubbo, to ensure the safety of students, staff and property. They will also assist if you lock yourself out of your room late at night.

Residential Student Support Scheme

Residential Adviser (RA) are second, third or fourth year student leaders who are responsible for a block, or a group of four or five cottages. You will go to your RA in the first instance if you have questions, problems or complaints, or to report maintenance issues relating to your residences. RA's distribute information about residential matters, and have a First Aid Certificate to attend to minor emergencies.

Head Residents are senior students experienced in working with young adults. Head Residents are responsible for the support and supervision of a group of RAs. The Head Residents are available for support and guidance for students when required.

The Manager, Residential Operations is a full time member of the University staff who manages the provision of pastoral care to the Halls of Residence community. The Managers are supported by five full time Residential Operations Officer's (located at Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Thurgoona and Wagga Wagga) who assist them in the management of residential support and operations.

Student Services: In addition to the above services, the Division of Student Services offers a range of services including: study skills and maths skills support; student loans; careers advice; assistance to International and Indigenous students; disabilities and equity support and off-campus accommodation.
