Albury-Wodonga The twin cities of Albury-Wodonga straddle the border of two of Australia's Eastern States, New South Wales and Victoria. With a combined population of around 95, 000, the cities have all the features of a capital city including excellent shopping, cafes and restaurants, theatre and art galleries. Its location is a bonus for those who love sport - try water-skiing in summer and snow skiing in nearby snowfields in the winter. The cities are well connected to Sydney, Melbourne and the nation's capital, Canberra, by planes, trains and buses.
On the outskirts of the city is Thurgoona which is where the student residences is located. This environmentally friendly 90 hectare 'greenfields' campus utilises environmentally friendly design and operation and is rapidly changing as academic office, teaching laboratories and student facilities are built to harmonise with the 'green' campus. All cottages are self-catered.
Each cottage has 6 - 8 fully furnished single student bedrooms (with a bar refrigerator), a common room with TV, kitchen (with food cupboards for each student) and two bathrooms. Each kitchen has an oven, microwave and cook top (gas or electric stove). The cottages are heated by solar hydronic floor heating. Cooling temperature and humidity sensors operate automatic louvre vents under each window to provide continuous natural ventilation through the cottages.
Residents will need to supply things such as a toaster, kettle, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.
The Halls of Residence has a small number of facilities designed for students with disabilities. Details are available from Support Central.
