Special Consideration

Follow above link to Special Consideration Regulations

If your studies are seriously disrupted by illness or misadventure, you may apply for special consideration to have your circumstances taken into account when your work is assessed. The circumstances must have been beyond your control and impeded your capacity to study effectively or to meet subject requirements.

It's important that you put your case in writing rather than making a verbal arrangement with a lecturer. This protects you if there is any dispute later, as there will be official documentation on file to support your claims. You should complete and lodge the Application for Special Consideration Form.

The application form should be accompanied by documentary evidence, such as a doctor's certificate, detailing the duration and degree of seriousness of the illness/misadventure and the likely impact on your studies.

Misadventure During Session

Follow above link to G1 Assessment Regulations and scroll down to 7.1

For disruption to studies which occurred during session, your special consideration application comes under Assessment Regulation 7.1. Your Application for Special Consideration form, and supporting documentation, must be submitted to the Student Administration Office as soon as possible.

Misadventure During Exam Period

Follow above link to G1 Assessment Regulations and scroll down to 17.8.2

For events occurring during the exam period and the preceding week, your application is made under Assessment Regulation 17.8.2, and it can be submitted up to 3 days after the actual exam, with supporting documentation. This should be sent to the Examinations Office.
