Role of the Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor has principal responsibility for the strategic coordination and management of Government relations. Reflecting the importance placed on effective government relations, the Vice-Chancellor approves all matters relating to the management of the University’s relations with Government at a State and National Level. The Vice-Chancellor meets regularly with Heads of Campus with respect to the management of our relationship with local Government. The Vice-Chancellor is also responsible for representing the University in all ministerial level discussions with the State and National Governments.
Role of the Office of Corporate Affairs
The Office of Corporate Affairs works under the direct supervision of the Vice-Chancellor and provide strategic advice and recommendations on the relationship of the University to Government and the development and advancement of key proposals and funding initiatives. The Office undertakes research and prepares reports and other communications for the Vice-Chancellor to support this goal. The Vice-Chancellor authorises individual senior executives to take carriage of specific initiatives under his direction.
The management of relationships with government departments relating to grant administration and funding programs is undertaken by the senior executive or Faculty, School, Research Centre or Division of Finance/Facilities as required in accordance with the terms of the contract.
The Office provides advice on relationship management and may become directly involved where requested. The Office monitors government engagement for the Vice-Chancellor and Senior Executive Committee.
