CSU Training offers the Vocational
Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution from the Community Service
Training Package.
This
qualification relates to dispute resolution practitioners working in agencies
or independently to provide dispute resolution services and interventions for
families experiencing high levels of relationship conflict and/or where the
clients may be involved in the Family Law system.
It is also offered to
those people with relevant backgrounds and experience to enter into the field
of family dispute resolution.
Some of these work
roles may include Family Mediator, Manager ADR Service, Relationships Mediator,
ADR Practitioner, Family Law Mediator or Intake Officer at a Family
Relationship Service.
About the qualification
For award of
this qualification, 10 competency units are required, including:

6 compulsory
units, and
·
4 elective units
Delivery
The Vocational Graduate Diploma of
Family Dispute Resolution (VGDFDR) is a workplace application program studied
on - the - job in an agency or as a sole practitioner and delivered via
distance education.
Learners are required to:
Ř
Be working in or have access to a
relevant workplace
Ř
Be in a position to complete the
study in 24 months
Ř
Have the support of a FDRP Supervisor
; who is:
o
In a position to ensure the learner has adequate time and
appropriate resources to learn on the job
o
Authorised by the agency to
provide a third party report to verify competence on the job in line with
performance criteria for units as required
Ř
Nominate a Workplace Coach who:
o
can guide and support the learner
in gaining the required competencies, and
o
has
successfully completed a CSU Training Workplace Coach Training Module.
The Workplace Coach
should be a more experienced family dispute resolution practitioner who is able
to meet with the learner regularly to discuss their learning and provide
coaching in skills development as required

Mechanisms to support students include:
Credit Transfer
Credit transfer will be given to units
listed on Certificates or Statements of Attainment issued by a Registered
Training Organisation that carry the exact
code and name as that listed for the qualification. Credit Transfer is
applicable for the equivalent AQF Unit only.
If you wish to apply for Credit Transfer you will be required to provide
certified copies of your Certificate or Statement of Attainment/s supported by
evidence of your current competence: eg a statement from your employer
verifying your current competence in the unit/s for which Credit Transfer is
being sought.
Recognition (RPL/RCC)
Recognition
of Prior Learning/ Current Competence is a process to acknowledge your existing
skills and acquired knowledge in the area of family dispute resolution. You are
required to provide evidence of competence in the performance criteria of the unit/s
you nominate.
The
process involves:
Ř Self assessment to determine the
units/s for which Recognition is sought,
Ř A workplace supervisor’s report
to verify your competence on the job,
Ř Submission of evidence to support
your claim of competence, and
Ř Questions and answers by means of
a telephone interview or written responses.
An RPL
pack with templates and suggested evidence is provided to assist in this
process for each of the units for which you are seeking recognition.
Recognition
is awarded for whole units only.
Course duration
It is
expected that the course will be completed within twenty four months.
