Bio

Peter Branca is a Victoria Police Sergeant who has recently taken personal leave to work with CSU as a Lecturer in Criminal Intelligence. Having joined the Victoria Police in 1989, he has performed duties in General Policing, Traffic Operations, Fingerprints and Crime Intelligence.

In 1997 he was awarded a Victoria Police scholarship to travel to the UK, Canada and USA to investigate the use of Crime Mapping for law enforcement. Peter has a Diploma of Social Science (Justice Studies) and Master of Applied Science in (Geospatial Information). He has researched the field of geographic profiling and crime mapping and has presented papers on the subjects both locally and internationally.

He recently returned from an 18 month overseas secondment with the Australian Federal Police as a Senior Intelligence Analyst. His role involved providing Intelligence support to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

Peter is interested in counter-terrorism and the spatio-temporal analysis of serial crimes.
