About The School
On the Bathurst campus, there are outstanding facilities for students including a community radio station, national radio newsroom producing hourly bulletins for 80 stations nationwide, television studio and multimedia production area. Advertising students complete their final year working in the multi-award winning Kajulu Communications, which has won the International Advertising Association’s worldwide InterAd student competition three times. PR students work in the on-campus consultancy in second and third year. Both groups work on real fee-earning projects for commercial and community clients under professional supervision. In addition to the Journalism, PR and Advertising courses, there are degrees in Commercial Radio and Theatre/Media. The Commercial Radio course has been specifically aimed at students who wish to develop a career in burgeoning and highly competitive Australian radio industry. Graduates will mainly enter sales, promotional and creative writing positions.
Theatre/Media provides practical and theoretical training for the arts, communication and entertainment industries. Students learn skills in performance, dramatic structure, theatre production, media research, digital production, production management and professional writing. This course is supported by the media production centre, a 99-seat theatre, rehearsal studios and production rooms, as well as costume, construction and wardrobe workshops. Graduates are sought after in the arts, media and entertainment fields.
Postgraduate courses are offered by Distance Education at Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Masters degree levels in PR/Organisation Communication, Journalism and Cultural Event Management. Students from around the world participate in these well-developed courses.
