Case study: Parading exercise

In this exercise, workshop participants created a visual performance of 2-3 minutes using bookmaker stands found in the Showground area.

Bookmaker stands

One of the following scenarios was allocated to each group:

  1. Make an entry with your stand. It is the lap of honour of the champion.
  2. Unveil next year's revolutionary model car.
  3. Prize giving - perform an elaborate prize giving on your podium.
  4. Breakdown - scorch into a pit stop for a wheel change.
  5. You are a team of archaeologists. It is post holocaust. You discover the last remaining automobile of the technological age. Excavate it and begin the journey to your National Museum
Stands - close up The bookie stands consist of a welded metal frame with a wooden platform.
Performance 1 This group presented their vision of the car of the future, complete with human powered windscreen wipers.
Performance 2 A champion is paraded before an adoring crowd, while her crew strains at the bit.

Notes:

This exercise involved lifting. If you have a back problem, do not lift heavy objects.
