S A F E T Y
The practical work involved in devising celebrations requires the occupational health and safety practices associated with the visual and performing arts. Always put safety first.

 

Saxophones
[You may also be interested in bands]

Materials:

Lengths of strong cardboard tubing
Balloon
Small cardboard tube (for reed)
Tape
Pencils
Erasers

Select a length of cardboard tube for your saxophone.

Cut the end off your balloon and stretch it over one end of the tube.

Tape the balloon to the tube with one or two small pieces of tape.
Use a smaller piece of cardboard as reed. Insert this ring into the neck of the balloon (the part you normally blow into to inflate it)
Stretch the balloon neck out with your mouth and blow into it. You will need to stretch the neck out at right angles to the tube for the full effect.
Different lengths of tubing will produce different sounds. You can create a saxophone section for a marching band.
