Ossie Awards Wins for Journalism Students

Final year CSU print journalism students have gained recognition at the annual Journalism Education Association Ossie Awards, announced at the JEA annual conference in Auckland.

Of five entries submitted to three print journalism categories, four were awarded Highly Commended certificates.

Emily Sherlock received two of the awards, in the print news report and print news feature categories. Andrew McLeod was also Highly Commended in the print news report category.

The final award was tinged with sadness as it recognised the work of Melanie Andreazza, the final year student who died tragically in November. Her feature story had been submitted in the Mental Health reporting category in September.

The Ossie Awards are the eminent student journalism awards. This year more than 120 entries were received in a range of categories.
