Internships

Professional industry placements for tomorrow’s industry professionals

One of the key differentiators of School of Communication and Creative Industries courses are the professional internships in leading media, marketing communication, and performance companies. These internships combine the practical education provided throughout our courses with an opportunity to gain critical real-world experience within an industry-professional working environment. A major benefit of our industry internships is the partnership relationships we have with leading Australian and international organisations. These partnerships ensure students internship placement in their chosen industries, placements which in many cases lead to offers of employment ??? often before the completion of their degree course.

Advertising

Advertising and Advertising/Marketing students undertake an industry internship in their final year. To augment a full final year working in the industry-professional environment of Kajulu Communications ??? the on-campus student advertising agency of CSU ??? students complete at least four weeks in an advertising or media agency such as DDB, Clemenger BBDO, Leo Burnett, George Patterson Y&R, Singleton Ogilvy Mather, FCB, McCann Erickson, OMD Media, Starcom, Initiative Media or Zenith Media to name but a few, or in the promotions or marketing department of large media communications organisations. International internships may also be offered which see students spending three months in New York working for one of the world’s leading communications agencies, BBDO.

Commercial Radio

The unique nature of the Commercial Radio course ensures that final year students spend their entire final semester working in a regional or national radio station or station network. Students gain actual experience in sales and promotions, experience that equips them perfectly for a career in radio, experience that often sees them receiving offers of actual employment by their internship placement companies. Students undertake placements in major radio networks, including Austereo, Australian Radio Network, DMG Radio Australia and Macquarie Radio Network.
