“As a second year Public Relations student I feel lucky to be a part of such a great course. CSU's reputation for producing skilled Communication graduates is unparalleled by any other Australian university. I have made many friends already and I find it fascinating to be around so many different people. The Public Relations course has shown me the various forms of Communication around the world. It has made me aware of the amount of strategy, media budgets and tactical thinking involved in a media campaign. The greatest strength of this course is that it is so practical. Students are encouraged to complete internships, the uni often organising industry contacts to aid us in reaching our goals. It is a shock that I will be finished in a year. Time has gone too fast and I’ve really started to settle into uni and Bathurst. I recommend the course to any person wishing to make an impact on the media when they finish university.”
TE,
3rd year Organisational Communication Student

“The Theatre/Media Communication course at CSU is the only course to do if you want to discover all the creative possibilities within theatre and film, and be motivated to find your own path. Because in the ‘real world’, multi-skilling and motivation are the keys to success!”
Renata Schuman,
Freelance Director/Writer, Actor
“I found it bloody hard to leave Bathurst. So much going on. So many different projects, never quite enough time. It wasn't unusual to be editing a video in the morning, designing a large-scale cabaret in the afternoon, and breathing fire onto a bonfire at night. By the time I did leave, (in a double-decker bus with a mob of other Theatre/Media people called Circus Monoxide), I realised that the course had equipped me to move easily between very different areas, from hi-tech to low-tech, from live performance to digital broadcast, and most importantly, to make the connections and find the tension between them…”
Mike Finch,
Artistic Director, Circus Oz
“Without a doubt this course changed my life. I have worked in the theatre & media industry for more than ten years now and I can say the skills I learned in the Theatre/Media course are not easily gained anywhere else, if at all. Plying the T/M trade in my community has made a noticeable difference already in Aboriginal cultural expression.
Suzanne Ingram,
Managing Director, Jariah Productions, home of ‘Shady Players Aboriginal Street Theatre Troupe’
“As a photographer, The Theatre/Media Course trained me to understand what it was like to be in front of the camera as well as behind it. The work and opportunities that have come out of this course are wide and varied. I run a successful photographic studio in Bathurst, boasting an extensive and varied clientele, with the foundation and success of my business linked closely to the Uni.”
Vanessa Roget,
Professional Photographer
“Being of the Theatre/Media alumni has meant never being out of work since graduation, either by creating opportunities for work, or by being highly sought after within my chosen artistic field (physical theatre/dance). As an educator, I still use many of the skills I use as a performer - skills I would not have had without the theatre media degree.”
Justin Moon,
Administrator/Lecturer, Uniworld College
“The Theatre Media Course explores relevant theatre arts in Australia, providing the crucial balance of critical awareness and performance skill. This course is held in very high regard in the theatre industry and the rural location gives students the opportunity to construct, advertise, manage and perform their work in a number of venues for many different audiences both indoors and outdoors.”
Byron Christie
“I am working in my own Business supplying and installing audiovisual equipment primarily into the education and corporate industries. I employ around 20 staff and have numerous service vehicles on the road. I put a lot of my success down to CSU-staff who always said, “Believe in yourself and your dreams will come true!” Not only did I learn all the traditional Acting/Theatre skills at CSU, but most importantly Life skills. Thanks for the faith and support. It was fun and very rewarding!”
Brett Collison,
Director, Sales and Marketing, ALL AV Pty Ltd. Sydney, Australia

Dusk Dundler
“When you graduate you’ve got more than just a degree, you've got experience enough to walk into any newsroom and actually be a journalist.”
Juliette Saly
“Because of the experience I got out of the course I was employed before I actually finished my degree.”
