Profile

Daniel has been a performing artist, director and educator for over 15 years. He has toured extensively performing across Europe, North America and Australasia. He has worked in theatre, film, stunts, festivals, special events and circus. His diverse industry experience ranges from stunt doubling Mark Wahlberg to corporate leadership programs. As a former Canadian national gymnast he developed his foundations at the Olympic Training Centre. Daniel has taught physical theatre, clown and acrobatics at Flinders University, Adelaide College of the Arts and for The Australian Dance Theatre. From 2007-2010 he was the Artistic Director and Head Trainer of the South Australian Circus Centre, Cirkidz. Daniel continues to perform as an acrobat, direct, teach and study. In 2011 Daniel joined the CSU Theatre/Media team with the aim of inspiring the next generation of creative thinkers and communicators.

Teaching

Currently responsible for second year Theatre/Media subjects, THM208 - Devised Performance and THM207 - Theatre for Young People.  Daniel also supervises Master’s of Arts Practice students in circus and physical theatre as well as third year major work productions.

Research

Daniel's research area is the interaction between creativity and training in physical theatre and circus.

He is also interested in creative starting points, individual and group awareness, collaboration and trust.
