Profile
Margaret Van Heekeren has worked in magazine, newspaper, radio and television journalism. Prior to joining Charles Sturt University in 1997 she was the News Editor (Western) for WIN Television’s Orange, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga newsrooms. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Communication) from Mitchell College of Advanced Education (1985) and a Master of Arts (Modern History) from Macquarie University (2008). She is currently completing her PhD through Macquarie University.
Teaching
Margaret teaches final year print journalism students and Masters degree coursework students in advanced journalism and journalism research. She is available for Honours and Masters research supervision in the areas of journalism practice and journalism history.
Research
Margaret researches in the area of 20th and 19th century Australian journalism history. She is a member of the management committee of the Centre for Media History. Margaret convened the biannual Australian Media Traditions conference at CSU Bathurst in 2007.
