Lee Kofman reading
Wednesday 18 July - 6pm at the Wagga City Library

Lee KofmanLee Kofman, Wagga Wagga Writers Writers current writer-in-residence, will read from her work-in-progress, The Russian Book of Lost Love, on Wednesday 18 July at 6 pm at the Wagga City Library. Lee’s reading will be followed by an open mike.

Lee will also conduct a writing workshop at Booranga Writers’ Centre on the university campus (opposite the winery) on Saturday 21 July between 2 and 4 pm. The workshop, ‘Find your own voice’, will suit all writers, including beginners.

Born in Russia, Lee’s family immigrated to Israel in 1985 where she published two novels and a collection of short stories in Hebrew. She arrived in Australia in 2000.

This year she completes a Master of Arts in Creative Writing at Melbourne University. She has published short stories, poetry and non-fiction in English and her work-in-progress is a literary non-fiction book about the Russian community in Australia intertwined with her family's memoirs—with the emphasis on personal stories rather than objective history.

 Lee won a grant from the Literature Board of the Australian Council as a developing writer of new work in 2004 and a fellowship at Varuna Writers’ Centre in 2005.This year as well as visiting Booranga, Lee has been awarded a mentorship with The Australian Society of Authors; a residency at The Katherine Susannah Pritchard Writers’ Centre in WA and a Masterclass at Varuna in the Blue Mountains.
