One of the very important and interesting aspects of the project was an international workshop. The workshop was held at the Centre for Rural Social Research, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, Australia, from 12 -16 February 2001. From ten Asia-Pacific countries (see the map) social science researchers and field practitioners researched and documented unique traditional community care and welfare systems, travelled to Wagga Wagga and presented their papers in the workshop. The deliberations and discussions in the workshop resulted in a draft training manual on community informal care and welfare systems.
