Bio
Dr. Manohar Pawar, MASW and PhD, is a senior lecturer in social work and human services and an associate director and principal researcher of the Centre for Rural Social Research/Institute for Land and Water and Society. Dr Pawar has more than 20 years of social work education, research and practice experience in Australia and India . His current areas of interest include international social development, social work and social policy, social work education, NGOs and community development. He teaches several subjects relating to social work and social policy, international social development and field education in international contexts, and undertakes research that integrates his teaching and practice interests.
Dr Pawar is also coordinator of postgraduate programs. He has published several papers in refereed journals and a number of books. Dr. Pawar’s recent books include: International Social Work: Issues strategies and programs (coauthored, Sage, 2006); Capacity Building for Participation: Social workers’ thoughts and reflections (Ed., CRSR/ILWS, 2005); Data Collecting Methods and Experiences: A guide for social researchers (Ed., New Dawn Press, 2004); and Communities Informal Care and Welfare Systems: A training manual (Coauthored, CRSR/ILWS, 2004). Dr. Pawar has received a Quality of Life Award 2001, from the Association of Commonwealth Universities and Research Excellence Award 2001, from the Faculty of Arts, Charles Sturt University . Manohar is a member of several professional committees/bodies.
Recently, Dr. Pawar was appointed as a convener of the Asia-Pacific Branch of the International Consortium for Social Development.
