David Gilbey has taught in the areas of Australian Literature, Children's Literature, 19th Century Literature and Creative Writing. He is President of Wagga Wagga Writers Writers and was instrumental in the establishment of Booranga, the Riverina Writers' Centre. When time permits David reviews new books, eg for Australian Book Review and writes poetry. His early poems are collected in Under the Rainbow (1996). His first full collection, Death and the Motorway was published in 2008 by Interactive Publications, Qld. He has been the chief editor of fourW, an annual anthology of new writing and graphics, for two decades. David has three times been Visiting Professor in Japan, teaching English at Miyagi Gakuin University, Sendai. In 2007 he was part of a baroque music/poetry performance project http://recite.terapad.com/ In 2010 some of David's haibun were collected in Forty Stories of Japan, FineLine Press (NZ). Currently David is a member of the Wagga Wagga branch of the English Teachers' Association and organises the annual HSC English Study Days in Wagga.
