Robin Harvey
Bio
Robin’s professional work has spanned 30 years of social work in a range of fields and within government, NGO’s and health services before specialising in work with older people in the area of mental health promotion and treatment of depression. In this context Robin focussed on working with older people as project mentors to develop a range of innovative group based mental health promotion programs. She has also worked until recently as a clinician in an aged psychiatry service and developed and facilitated depression support and recovery programs using exercise and creative mediums as therapeutic tools. She has undertaken sessional teaching in social work and gerontology programs at La Trobe University and CSU over a number of years before moving into academia full-time with C.S.U. in 2007. She has a strong commitment to distance education, supporting provision of access to good quality education for students no matter where they may live
Robin lives in the beautiful rural north-east of Victoria , with family, dogs and horses and enjoys reading, horse-riding and singing in community choirs

Research
Robin retains strong links to practice in the areas of mental health of older people and sexual assault services; and plans to develop her action research interests in future in the areas of :
- resilience as a protective mental health factor;
- mental health promotion;
- use of creative and exercise mediums in mental health promotion;
- sexual assault and depression
