Ethics
Ethics in Human Research Committee (EHRC)
Some points to note:
- All low-risk applications are now considered by the School-based EHRC, in our case Policing-EHRC.
- All other non-low risk applications must be considered by the University EHRC.
- This includes applications from staff, which previously went to the University EHRC as a matter of course.
If you require ethics approval, please note the following procedure:
Complete the checklist [herewith, titled Minimal Risk Review Checklist.doc] to ascertain whether your research project would be eligible to be submitted to Policing-EHRC for ethical review as a minimal risk research.
If you answer “YES” to any items in the checklist your project must be submitted to the University EHRC for review (unless you can make a special case – refer section 6).
You should complete an ethics application form [herewith, entitled EHRC Approval Form.doc] and submit it to the University EHRC.
If you do NOT answer “yes” to any questions on the checklist, your project will normally be eligible for submission to Policing-EHRC.
You should complete an ethics application form [herewith, entitled EHRC Approval Form.doc] and submit it to Policing-EHRC.
