In 1985, Ross joined the New South Wales Police Force and performed General Duties, Highway Patrol duties and Criminal Investigation being awarded his designation as Detective in 1994.

Since leaving the NSW Police Force, Ross has undertaken further studies relevant to his respective employments and has qualified and received accreditation in the Diploma of Business, Certificate IV in Government Fraud Control (Investigations), Security Risk Management, Frontline Management, Workplace Coaching, Training and Assessment and recently his Masters of Management degree at Wollongong University. 

Post his Policing duties, Ross worked for Australia Posts Corporate Investigations Unit and for the last 10 years, he was employed with RailCorp where he held a number of middle management positions with his last position being the Manager Operations Improvement for RailCorp’s Security Division.  His duties in this position involved the continuous improvement of the division, procedure development and maintenance, training development, both on and off the job, project management and change management.
