Welcome

Welcome to the Australian Emergency Management Forum (AEMF).

The forum has been designed as an Internet based meeting place, where anyone involved in emergency management can discuss matters of mutual interest in an open environment.

Natural and technological hazards affect communities around the world in a wide variety of ways. Here in Australia, we face many and varied natural and technological hazards. Over the past 25 years we have unfortunately experienced a number of major disaster/ emergency situations that have tested our resilience and preparedness. These and other events have often provided the catalyst for increased development and innovation in the emergency management field. The ability to learn from others and exchange ideas, information, research and knowledge is a key component for continued advancement in the area of emergency management. At Charles Sturt University (CSU) we have a vested interest in the ongoing development of emergency management.

With support from the Australian International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) Committee and Emergency Management Australia (EMA), CSU has designed this forum to provide a venue for the exchange of information and knowledge. The forum itself is just one of a myriad of tools now being made available to emergency managers, and we hope that you will find it of benefit.

We at CSU appreciate the support of the Australian IDNDR Committee who provided funding towards the development of this site. I would also like to thank you for visiting the site and hopefully your continued patronage. I would encourage you to participate in our online discussions and information exchange. Only through participation can we progress.

We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have for improving the site and services and look forward to your ongoing support.
