Within the School of Social Sciences and Liberal Studies (SS&LS) there are a number of discipline areas that study the contemporary world in the form of studies of individuals, institutions and social groups in the present, the past and in their cultural productions.

By studying in these areas, students develop the particular knowledge and skills of that discipline and develop critical thinking, academic argument and communication skills to equip them with the contemporary needs of society and develop lifelong learning skills for continued academic inquiry in the unfolding frontiers of knowledge.
