Bio

Phil completed his studies in psychology at the University of Adelaide. After graduating with a first class honours degree, he completed a PhD in which he examined how people interpret, respond, and evaluate everyday arguments. After teaching part-time at the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia, Phil taught full-time at the Flinders University of South Australia. Subsequently, he was appointed to CSU at the Albury campus.

Presently, his interests remain in the area of reasoning and argumentation, whether verbalised or internal – with particular interest in fallacies and flaws – in everyday life contexts. Recently, Phil has begun turning his attention to these processes in a mental health context.

Phil is also interested in empathy, its development, and measurement, and its role in a variety of social processes and behaviours.
