Research
The School of Theology has a robust research culture; lively, resourceful, inquisitive and academically rigorous. While it has recognized research strengths in biblical studies and public theology, there are specialists available in systematic theology, church history, practical theology and liturgical studies. In addition, the collections, facilities and services in the various libraries of the School are designed to support researchers.
The university places great emphasis on faculty research and the contributions of research students in the research higher degree programs. Research students are supported in a range of ways, with benefits offered to qualified students who are full-time or part-time (see Scholarships and Help with Costs).

Public and Contextual Theology Research Centre (PaCT)
The School of Theology’s research is coordinated with the Public and Contextual Theology Research Centre. The Centre is devoted specifically to the analysis of the public expression of Christian faith and the implications of Christian faith for society as a whole. In Australia this includes effects upon issues of the environment and the dispossession of the lands of the indigenous peoples, together with the ongoing process of reconciliation.
Who do I talk to?
Your first port of call should be the websites for the research degrees we offer. This gives you a chance to see whether there is a program that suits your needs, and also test whether you have the appropriate background to enter the program.
Next, make your intentions and plans known to Dr Peter Pocock (02.6272.6260 or ppocock@csu.edu.au), he is the principal contact for research programs in the School, and will put you in touch with the best person to help you pursue your research interests.
