Career Summary
Sabine Pagan is a Swiss born Australian Jeweller. Her specialised jewellery design and manufacturing skills are the product of both an apprenticeship and a formal tertiary design training that she undertook in Switzerland. She also graduated with a Diploma of Gemmology from the Gemmology Association of London, before immigrating to Australia.

Sabine possesses rare technical capacity that provides her the opportunity to work not only in the contemporary realm but also in the trade spheres of the profession. This is evidenced by her prolific career working as a freelance Jeweller in Switzerland for several years before relocating to Australia in 1998. Here she worked for highly regarded manufacturing jewellers whilst continuing the development of her own practice. She was awarded a 3-year residency at the elite Object Studios in Sydney and at ANCA (Australian National Capital Artists) Studios in Canberra.

Sabine has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibition at peak National exhibition centres including:  the Jam Factory Craft and Design Centre in Adelaide; Object – Australian Centre of Craft and Design; Craft ACT; ANCA and Metalab. Sabine’s work is not limited to jewellery – she also produces lighting and vessels, and has worked on commissions for various advertising campaigns including Absolut Vodka, Luken and May, and Singapore Airlines.

Research Interests
Sabine’s research interests include cross-disciplinary research between jewellery, sculpture and architecture, and the (in)significance of the body in relation to these disciplines. She is currently undertaking a Masters of Design by Research at the University of South Australia.

Teaching
In 2008, she was awarded a RIPPLE grant to start the development of teaching tools using digital media within the practical environment.  Sabine is Course Coordinator and Lecturer in the Bachelor of Arts (Jewellery) program at Charles Sturt University. Under her leadership, graduates have achieved an industry presence across the sector in a variety of roles and received several nationally recognised awards.
