News - CSU Bachelor Of Arts (Television Production) 2006 third year major production “Chance Your Hand” chosen in the Official Selection of the 2007 New York Television Festival Independent Pilot Competition.
The producers, 2006 BA TV graduates Luke Heywood and Tim Pass, are ecstatic at the news that their production “Chance Your Hand” has made the selection list to be shown as a part of the 2007 New York Television Festival Independent Pilot Competition (NYTVF). Chance Your Hand is a situation comedy depicting the behind the scenes drama of a television game show, and was produced at the CSU TV studios as one of the major project works during the student's third year. The pair will travel to New York to attend the festival from the 5th to the 9th of September to represent their production and hopefully meet with network executives scanning the selection for fresh programming ideas. Chance Your Hand was one of only three productions selected from outside the USA, the others being from India and Brazil.
To quote the festival website "The NYTVF’s Independent Pilot Competition has established a pipeline allowing producers, writers, and directors to showcase their original TV pilots directly to the decision-makers of the industry. In its first two years, the Festival has featured acclaimed independent pilots that were purchased by networks such as NBC Universal, A&E, and Versus. The NYTVF offers the next generation of TV storytellers unprecedented access to development executives and producers looking for the next hit show."
I personally consider this to be a major accolade for the both the course and the students, showcasing just how capable, creative and talented CSU BA TV, BA Acting and BA Design for Theatre and Television graduates are. Chance Your Hand is just one example of the many quality short form television programs produced through the course every year.
